Two experts from Conair Group will be speaking at the Extrusion 2023 Conference, which is sponsored by Plastics Technology and being held October 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis.

Alan Landers, Blending Product Manager, will present Achieving Sustainability – Innovations Inside the Auxiliaries Market on Tuesday, October 10 from 10:30 to 11 AM.  Landers’ talk will take a broader view of sustainability, emphasizing not only material recycling and reuse, but also the potential for realizing cost savings through materials, reductions in labor, and decreased production order machine time. He will also cover topics including systems for reclaiming scrap within film extrusion processes, how to achieve quality blown film thickness more quickly, how to accelerate resin material changeovers, and how to monitor machine health.  This broad review of manufacturing toward sustainability provides insight to procuring auxiliary machines best suited for each application.

Shawn Hitz, Product Manager for Downstream Extrusion, will present “How Displacement Planetary Cutting Eliminates Debris and Fracturing by Precisely Controlling the Speed and Depth of the Knife into the Product” on Wednesday, October 11 from 3:30-4 PM.  In the session, Hitz will explain the many advantages of planetary displacement cutting while describing typical applications and materials, product size and shape requirements, necessary preparation for cutting, knife and cutter operation, and how to address difficult cutting situations. He will also highlight situations when displacement cutting technology should not be used.
