To ensure your Carousel Plus dryers operate at peak performance, regular maintenance of the aftercooler coil is essential. As dust and fines collect on the coil’s surface, airflow can become restricted, causing drying inefficiencies, overheating, and increased energy consumption. The good news? Cleaning the aftercooler coil is simple – and Conair can help.

What to Look For

Keep an eye out for these early warning signs that indicate it’s time to clean your aftercooler coil:

  • Reduced drying performance or longer dry times
  • Visible dust and fines on the coil’s surface
  • Restricted airflow or higher-than-normal pressure drop across the coil

Cleaning Procedure

1. Stop the dryer and lock out the main power.

(Caution: Hot surfaces. Always protect yourself from hot surfaces inside and outside the dryer and drying hopper.)

2. Turn off the water flow to the water inlet and outlet and disconnect the water connections.

3. Remove the bolts securing the aftercooler cover and remove the cover.

4. Remove the aftercooler by pulling it out of the aftercooler housing.

5. Clean the assembly using a mild soap and water. In cases of heavy volatiles, steam cleaning, pressure washing, or using solvents (e.g., acetone) may be necessary. Be sure to test a small area with the solvent you have selected to be sure there is no adverse reaction. Make sure to allow the assembly to dry fully.

6. Inspect the gasket for damage. If no damage is present, reinstall the aftercooler and cover. Fasten the cover back in place.

7. Connect the water supply lines, open the valves, and check for leaks. Return the dry to a run state.
