Many plastics processing plants start small, and as the operation begins to grow, equipment is added as needed. In time, however, this “piece by piece” approach to growth can become unwieldy. At a certain point, it becomes obvious that there are economies of scale that could be realized with a more centralized approach to operations. It’s at this point that the processor should begin to think in terms of “systems.”
